UK Grid to join EU code of conduct for Data Centres
UK Grid has committed to join the EU code of conduct for data centres which sets out a criteria for running energy efficient facilities.
The purpose of the code is to understand the energy demand in data centres, to raise awareness and to recommend best practice and targets for service providers to implement.
The code is completely voluntary and highlights UK Grid’s commitment to highly efficient data centres during its 2010 expansion. More details of this will be posted in our next newsletter.
London Update
UK Grid has recently added further network capacity in the following leading data centres; Global Switch 2, Telehouse North, Telehouse East and Telehouse Metro. This is part of UK Grid’s continuing London expansion plan, part of which will see further rack space being available towards the end of this year. UK Grid is also bolstering its connectivity to the LONAP peering LAN by taking a second GigE connection in Telehouse North to provide extra capacity and also redundancy to the existing LoNAP connection in Harbour Exchange 6/7.
