CO2 Carbon Passport

ISO14001 certified, UK Grid strives to reduce its impact on the environment from its data centres and does so through a number of routes. Such routes include Cold Aisle Containment (CAC), Inverter driven cooling solutions, use of blanking plate technologies and the implementation of Chloride energy efficient UPS systems running at near unity power factor.

All these technologies have enabled UK Grid’s Synergy House to reduce its PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) to just 1.4. UK Grid not only has utilised cutting edge technologies to reduce operational power consumption, but has also made a vested effort to reduce its carbon footprint by no less than 60% through the UK Governments Quality Assurance Scheme for carbon offsetting. Synergy House is one of the first data centre’s globally, to achieve such a reduced carbon footprint and aims to be completely carbon neutral by 2010.
